Community Response: Bring the community together for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
​
PLK Solution: Organized various festivities such as chalk art challenge, hygiene kit assembly, and guest speakers.

Chalk Art Challenge
​Volunteers of all ages came to draw images of peace, love, and service to honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. Local artist Stacey Ripley supported the new street artists.
Hygiene Kit Assembly
​Volunteers from Torrance Police Department, FedEx, and the neighborhood worked together to assemble approximately 135 kits. the hygiene kits were donated to 1736 Family Crisis Center.

Community Response: Teach the youth about climate change and gardening 101.

PLK Solution: From February 2018 - April 2018, we partnered with a community member’s garden to teach the youth about sustainability and how to grow their own food. In the ends, we discussed ideas to tackle climate change.
